Fighting over a $250.00 dinner!?

My husband wants to go out to celebrate his birthday. The total cost for the pre fixe meal would be $250.00 wine and tip included. I think that is totally extravagant especially when xmas is right around the corner and we have medical bills up the wa-hoo. He thinks that i am being unreasonable for not wanting to splurge since we only do it once or twice a year. I caved because I don't want to fight (so unlike me). Am I wrong for not wanting to spend the money?
