How do you get zebra finches to breed and pick a mate?

I kind of answered this in the other question. But it may be that your female is not old enough or fit enough to breed. In this case they will often reject a mate and should be allowed to do so. They should also be allowed to rest away from males for about two months after a couple of clutches of eggs. They should not be breed if the is not thick or the is bony. They need a little meat on their bones. The females will begin to pluck their feathers out when they are coming to season in order to make flesh contact with the eggs. The birds can best tell you when they are ready rushing them is one cause of death.
